Customs and Taxation: What You Need to Know

When shipping products internationally, your parcel may be inspected by the customs authority in the destination country. Depending on local regulations, the parcel value, product category and shipping method, customs duties or import taxes may apply.

Who Is Responsible for Customs Fees?

Customs duties, import taxes and customs clearance charges are normally paid by the recipient. These costs are not included in the product price, service fee or international shipping fee unless clearly stated otherwise.

Hiobuy cannot determine the exact amount of tax before the parcel arrives in the destination country because customs policies differ between countries and may change over time.

How Is the Declared Value Determined?

When submitting your parcel for international shipping, you may be asked to provide declaration information, including:

\nProduct name\n
\nProduct quantity\n
\nProduct category\n
\nDeclared value\n
\nIntended use\n

The information must be reasonable and accurate. Incorrect or incomplete declarations may result in delays, additional charges, parcel returns or customs penalties.

What Happens If Customs Contacts Me?

If customs or the shipping carrier requests additional information, you may need to provide documents such as proof of payment, an invoice, identification or a product description.

Please respond as soon as possible to avoid unnecessary delays.

Important Notice

Customs clearance is controlled by the destination country. Hiobuy can assist with shipping documents and parcel information, but we cannot guarantee that a parcel will pass customs without inspection, tax or delay.

Before purchasing, check the import regulations of your country, especially for food, cosmetics, electronics, batteries, branded products and other restricted categories.
